The Capital Area Literacy Coalition is looking for volunteers to tutor adults in basic reading and English as a second language. Volunteers are asked to commit two hours weekly. Framing Our Future: Celebrating Women's Voices, Michigan ACE Network Conference will take place on June 11-12, 2007 in Lansing. The conference provides an opportunity for women leaders from every facet of higher education including faculty, staff and administrators to come together to explore issues of relevance to women. In celebration of East Lansing's 100th birthday, there are several commemorative events taking place in April. The East Lansing Women's Club is hosting "A History in Pictures and Words," on Sunday, April 22 at 2pm at the Hannah Community Center. On April 29, from 5:30- 7:30pm, enjoy "On The House: A VIP Tasting Party!", an evening full of East Lansing VIPs' favorite recipes. RSVP by phone at 337-4469 or email rsvp@rizzidesgins.com. A $20 donation is requested at the door. Proceeds will go to The Collegeville Society, which works to preserve and stabilize East Lansing neighborhoods.
The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Faculty, Staff and Graduate Student Association (GLFSA) of MSU announces the 2007 Pride Scholarship Program. A minimum award of $3,000 is given, with preference to an incoming, first year MSU student who demonstrates academic achievement and involvement with, or contributions to, the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. The application is available at www.msu.edu/~glfsa/2007psa.htm. Applications must be postmarked by May 4, 2007.
